PICT6142a
The road did seem to be reasonable, no real danger to the pickup's suspension or bottom. However, shortly after this picture was taken we blew a tire. While we were changing it, a local driver came by. He helped us change the tire. He told us that last year he rescued over a dozen cars on the road. We were better off than most since we had both a jack and a useable spare. He told us that the road continued to deteriorate and that it became passable only with very heavy duty tires. Based on his recommendation, we turned around and drove to Lovelock where we got two new tires, setting off again for Gerlach about 6 hours later than we expected.
